Seein' as how the pace of game has slowed to the pace of pondwater while team TNT attempts to clean the skidmarks out of their skivvies... I thought I'd start a new thread. Something with a little... Kulcha.

So let's discuss music. I'll start.

Songs about women that I'd like to meet:
  • Sugar Magnolia by the Grateful Dead.
  • Volvo Driving Soccer Mom by Everclear.
  • Pick just about anything by ZZ Top.

I could go on... but I think it'd be good to dedicate a tune to our friends in TNT-land. The Card Cheat by The Clash.

Spoiler :
There’s a solitary man crying, hold me.
It’s only because he’s a-lonely
If the keeper of time runs slowly
He won’t be alive for long!

If he only had time to tell of all of the things he planned
With a card up his sleeve, what would he achieve?
It means nothing!

To the opium den and the barroom gin
In the belmont chair playing violins
The gambler’s face cracks into a grin
As he lays down the king of spades

But the dealer just stares
There’s something wrong here, he thinks
The gambler is seized and forced to his knees
And shot dead

He only wanted more time
Away from the darkest door
But his luck it gave in
As the dawn light crept in
And he lay on the floor

From the hundred year war to the crimea
With a lance and a musket and a roman spear
To all of the men who have stood with no fear
In the service of the king

Before you met your fate be sure you
Did not forsake your lover
May not be around anymore

A woman scout would like to meet:

Spoiler :
Oo my little pretty one, pretty one
When you gonna give me some time, Sharona?
Oo you make my motor run, my motor run
Gun it coming off of the line, Sharona
Never gonna stop, give it up, such a dirty mind
I always get it up with a touch of the younger kind
My-ee ey-ee by-ee ahee ah woo!
Ma ma ma my Sharona
Come a little closer, over here
Close enough to look in my eyes, Sharona
Keep a little mystery, kissin' me
Runnin' down the length of my thigh, Sharona
Never gonna stop, give it up, such a dirty mind
I always get it up from a touch of the younger kind
My-ee ey-ee by-ee ahee ah woo!
Ma ma ma my Sharona
Ma ma ma my Sharona
When ya gonna get to me, get to me
Is it just a matter of time, Sharona
Is it a destiny, a destiny
Or is it just a game in my mind, Sharona
Never gonna stop, give it up, such a dirty mind
I always get it up from a touch of the younger kind
My-ee ey-ee by-ee ahee ah woo!
Ma ma ma ma ma ma ma ma
Myee ey-ee by-ee ahee ah woo!
Ma ma ma my Sharona
Ooooh my Sharona

A song for TNT:
Spoiler :

But what’s puzzling you
Is the nature of my game
I stuck around st. petersburg
When I saw it was a time for a change
Killed the czar and his ministers
Anastasia screamed in vain
I rode a tank
Held a general’s rank
When the blitzkrieg raged
And the bodies stank
Pleased to meet you
Hope you guess my name, oh yeah
Ah, what’s puzzling you
Is the nature of my game, oh yeah
I watched with glee
While your kings and queens
Fought for ten decades

:crazyeye:

A little message to TNT from TP and the Heartbreakers ...
Spoiler :

Well I won’t back down, no I won’t back down
You can stand me up at the gates of hell
But I won’t back down

Gonna stand my ground, won’t be turned around
And I’ll keep this world from draggin’ me down
Gonna stand my ground and I won’t back down

Hey baby, there ain’t no easy way out
Hey I will stand my ground
And I won’t back down.

Well I know what’s right, I got just one life
In a world that keeps on pushin’ me around
But I’ll stand my ground and I won’t back down

Hey baby there ain’t no easy way out
Hey I will stand my ground
And I won’t back down
No, I won’t back down

A little song 'bout a girl who probably stands about five foot four..by AC/DC

ain't no fairy story
ain't no skin and bones
but you give it all you got
weighin' in at nineteen stone

gotta whole lotta Rosie
whole lotta Rosie
whole lotta Rosie
and you're a whole lotta woman

honey you can do it
do it to me all night long
only one who turn me
only one who turn me on
all through the night time
right around the clock
to my surprise
Rosie never stop
gotta a whole lotta woman
gotta whole lotta woman
whole lotta Rosie
whole lotta Rosie
whole lotta Rosie
I gotta whole lotta woman

gotta whole lotta woman
whole lotta woman
I gotta whole lotta Rosie

I gotta whole lotta Rosie
whole lotta woman

...that's five-foot-four by four-foot-five?

Now here's a little ditty by Soundgarden that was going through my head last Saturday morning. You'll understand why when you read the first verse:
Spoiler :
I woke the same as any other day
Except a voice was in my head
It said seize the day, pull the trigger
Drop the blade, and watch the rolling heads

The day I tried to live
I stole a thousand beggar’s change
And gave it to the rich

The day I tried to win
I dangled from the power lines
And let the martyrs stretch
Singing

One more time around might do it
One more time around might make it
One more time around might do it
One more time around
The day I tried to live

Words you say never seem
To live up to the ones inside your head
The lives we make never seem
To ever get us anywhere but dead

The day I tried to live
I wallowed in the blood and mud with
All the other pigs

I woke the same as any other day you know
I should have stayed in bed

The day I tried to win
I wallowed in the blood and mud with
All the other pigs

And I learned that I was a liar
Just like you

Here's a Bugsy original. Not sure this will make the CD, but it is a fun piece.

Spoiler :
Mary worked the sandwich shop
on Elm just up the hill.
Each day she'd be serving lunch
to the boys from the mill.
People said that she could sing,
this town would bring her down
Then one day she took a chance,
packed her bags, drove out of town

Chorus:
Carpe Diem, seize the day,
You can do it, you'll find a way
Carpe Diem, take that chance
Get on your feet, get up and dance
Say a prayer, trust the Lord
Head down a brand new road
Carpe Diem, Carpe Diem,
Carpe Diem, seize the day

Johnny had a pow'rful love,
but didn't have the guts.
Thought his girl would run away,
if he said just how much
One night he saw her talking
to a guy in a band.
So that night he took a chance
and asked her for her hand.

Chorus

Yes life isn't always fair
And yes, sometimes it's rough.
Sometimes a chance won't work out
Sometimes your luck is tough
But you never know unless you try
So try a different way
Say a prayer and start anew.
this could be your day.

Bobby hadn't seen his son
in many a long year
All he had was the last time,
full of shouts, screams and tears.
The son moved across the land
far away just for spite.
So Bobby hopped on a plane
One last chance to make things right.

Chorus

I hope I don't get him in trouble for saying this... but Mistfit showed us some of the album CD cover artwork in a chat recently. Pretty cool! Completely lacking a proper Stack of Doom or a rocket launcher, but cool nonetheless.

@Bugs: I wonder how  TF would get if we started pluggin' Ipods into CFC to actually hear some of your tunes? :hmm:

Next week I will start posting some early mixes of some of the tunes on our website so the band can start giving me feed back. I'll share the url so you guys can beat me up as well. I can say the team is part of market focus group.

Being a Christian band, we didn't think the rocket launcher was appropriate.

But how about a Bruce Cockburn tune: If I had a Rocket Launcher. If you have never heard this, you need to find it somewhere:
Spoiler :
Here comes the helicopter -- second time today
Everybody scatters and hopes it goes away
How many kids they've murdered only God can say
If I had a rocket launcher...I'd make somebody pay

I don't believe in guarded borders and I don't believe in hate
I don't believe in generals or their stinking torture states
And when I talk with the survivors of things too sickening to relate
If I had a rocket launcher...I would retaliate

On the Rio Lacantun, one hundred thousand wait
To fall down from starvation -- or some less humane fate
Cry for guatemala, with a corpse in every gate
If I had a rocket launcher...I would not hesitate

I want to raise every voice -- at least I've got to try
Every time I think about it water rises to my eyes.
Situation desperate, echoes of the victims cry
If I had a rocket launcher...Some son of a ***** would die

Cockburn... sounds like Beavis and Butthead humor.

I do know the song though, the version Rik mentioned rocks, especially the guitar solo... you'd swear it's actually two guitars playing.

That's just done with an effects pedal or two. Probably a chorus and a delay. Easy to do and a very nice result.

Did you hear the version? Since you're a musician I'm inclined to defer to your judgement, but it really doesn't sound like that to me. It's more like one playing base and one playing the music.
