1. Check the vendor's website for any initialisation (initialization ) strings that may be required for the modem to function properly.
2. Do you have a virus-free computer? True that most viruses today would like an internet/network connection to be active, but in the past (distant past), some viruses have been known to boot any active network (and internet) connection as they screw with the TCPIP settings on the computer.
3. Check the vendor's website for a new version of firmware for the modem and flash it to the latest version.
4. If you are able to borrow another modem from a friend etc, then try that and see if you have the same problem. This will determine if it is the modem itself that is the problem.
To answer your question regarding dial-up scripts... I dont think there is any way to do this however this would all depend on the make of the modem you are using. Generally, any commands to be sent to the modem are done through initialisation strings.
