Yes
It worked out of the box (ecxept for the lack of printed manual !!!!!)
even when my card is ATI radeon 9800xt

@Matjek, But I didn't have any problems installing the game. I'm still running off the initial install. Didn't have any problems with the patch either. Both smooth, obvious and easy. The game just didn't run.

Once I bought a new graphics card and installed it, no problems after that!!

Well not single option will fit your situatioin perfectly. You just have to pick the one that most closely resembles yours

Mine would have worked fine out of the box but it HAD TO BE A DVD ROM!:aargh:
My dvd drive decided to give up, even though the computer believes it works. My local computer shop is so useless the new computer has been taking ages to arrive (we needed a replacement!):shakehead
I am tired of waiting to play the game i payed good money for... :(

But he said the game didn't run at all?

I've had the game for ~ a week and am playing on a laptop from work with a 16GB video card (~Pentium 2.5GHz & 256MB RAM). Had to turn off movies in the system file or wonders would make the game crash. After that though it runs fine now.

Slow, but I'm below the minimum requirements on the video and below the recommended RAM so I don't blame the game.

Tonight though it will be on my new 3700+, 512MB RAM, Geforce 7800GT 256MB. On Monday or Tuesday my new RAM will come in and that'll be 2GB.

Soon I'll be a warmongering fool on high graphic settings! :ar15:

No he didnt, he said it worked eventually

No, it didn't run at all.

Not until I applied the fix I mentioned earlier in this thread.

The game has been very stable for me. I've only had a few unprovoked CTDs, and considering how much I've played it since release it's not a big deal.

I get a few extra CTDs exiting a game to the main menu IF I have winamp running too - sometimes I hear an audio hiccup - sometimes it crashes entirely. Since I know running both at the same time causes this, I don't consider it a big issue - even though I run winamp in tandem with a lot of other games without problems. :mischief:

Had the "failed to initialize renderer" bug ( Radeon 9600 Pro vid card). Fortunately, the game coming out a bit later in Europe, I was expecting this, and the Firaxis fix solved that in a jiffy. Zero problems afterwards.

So over 50% of respondents had no problems; 80% either had none or had them resolved.

I think we can put to rest the "majority of people can't play" party line that some have been toeing. ;)

You'd be surprised, though, people are actually using THIS poll to describe how buggy/problematic/generally crappy the game is...will wonders never cease?

Graphics problems. Started out with the Cheshire Cat/Black Terrain problem. After the patch I now 'only' have disappearing resource icons.

What's even more surprising, though, is using this poll come to the conclusion that 80% currently have no problems at all.

So you don't value our opinion very much then? Who said anything about science? The statistics are completely accurate for this sub-set of players, CIVFANATICS.COM.

Not unless you include the words, "can't play out of the box" anyway...

:goodjob:
