Well I'd just like to see who got it too work out of the box and whatnot. Also, did it work satisfactory for you? That you still got addicted to it?

Worked out of box, got some games completed had some bad crashes but.
1.09 improved but still got some late game crashes. Have had no trouble since 1.52 apart from some crazy unit moves such as seen in Funny Screenshots thread.

Worked out of box at low res. (my machine is only just powerful enough to run the game).
No changes noticed with patch 1.09
Better with 1.52

It worked out of the box for me. And then after upgrading to a 6600GT videocard, the game ran perfectly enough to play large maps.

The 1.52 patch has pretty made the game run as smoothly as Civ3 for me all throughout my game sessions.

Worked out the box. Though only at low res. Still I was confused until the patch 1.52 came out and fixed the "toast" bug.

The game worked although there were performance problems. The sound was choppy during wonder movies.
Patch 1.52 fixed that.
Some weird things still happen though. The production menu popped up when I had only one city and it was in the middle of making something. I was the first to circumnavigate the globe when I had a galley and still could not enter ocean squares. Also I seem to sometimes get multiple instances of leadrs screens when I make a trade.
The game has been playable from the beginning.

Mine worked out of the box although the wonder movies were stuttery. That was fixed for me in 1.09. I occasionally had graphics problems where I would encounter a Blue Screen of Death. This was not due to Civ but to the graphics card in my machine and mainly the drivers being used. Other than those, the game worked, and still works, great.

Worked out of the box. Mostly. As long as I kept the settings way down low.

Patches + small memory upgrade = no major problems now.

Mine worked thanks to help from a member on these boards.

My thoughts goes to those 2.94% who havent got it fixed yet. - that is one person :(

Worked out of box.
I just get sometimes slow-downs when playing victory movies.
And after last patch few leaders got skin disease.

But anyway nothing that could stop addiction.

patch v1.52 made the game worse kept saying not enough video memory (radeon 9600pro 256mb onboard ram catalist v5:13 latest ) but i fixed that by going to my documents\my games\sid meiers civilization4\civilization4 config settings (its the one that looks like a pad with a cog on it) and changing memsaver=0 to memsaver=1 (or it might had been the other way round lol) and then i saved and started the game again turning the video settings down. you can also turn in game movies off this way to just look for ingame movies and change the number from =0 to =1

That'll be me then. When I say doesn't work, I guess I mean doesn't work propoerly. It crashes at some point in almost every session.
