unstoppable. i think ability of 100% loyalty on same continent as capital and ability to change capital is uberpowerful. taken coastal cities are auto loyal, wow.

now, add to the cake settler +2 movement on sea and no cost to embark AND biremes/quinqueremes and everything dies and melts all over the map. declare war, have settler at hand, settle under nose of enemy to heal your navy = win.

amazing civ, i was wishing for good naval civ and now i have it. beast.

ps. AND MUSIC!

oh... my new love.

Just look out for Maori war canoes if they are in the hands of another human. In convoys they may turn your tide.

I can't seem to get a good start with her, had to reroll 4 different times because I spawned at a continent divison/ no food or no production around. weird starting bias.

I had gotten nothing but good starts with maori, inca, hungary so far so it took me back a little.

I agree she is much better than I thought she was going to be from her gameplay trailer. She can push out productive cities like no one's business, and even if no one is settling right on the coast for her to raid, she can still basically worm her way right into the middle of the enemy civs with her settles. And the trade route bonus grom gov plaza is just gravy.

This popped in the first impressions thread yesterday:

Apparently the capital switch does NOT work with the “other continent” policy cards and wonders, after all... Has anyone else checked this?

today my first try with dido, first map and it is fine. nothing stellar. can play. maps for hungary were simply terrible. this now is pangea, low sea level, old age. despite low sea level, landmass have lots of peninsulas and coastal tiles. strange.

That's... odd. And disappointing. Wonder if that's intentional or an oversight.

They went back and forth with this... Ed initially stated on Twitter that it’s not supposed to work, but then he corrected himself and confirmed that it IS supposed to work for all the domination and policy card purposes.

In just over 24 hours, so far I've seen reports that Pachacuti's unstoppable, Mathias' unstoppable, Suleiman's unstoppable, Eleanor's unstoppable, Mansa Munsa's unstoppable if he survives the first 50 turns, and Dido's unstoppable. EDIT: Kupe. How'd I miss Kupe in my list? He was one of the first reported as unstoppable!

Sounds like folks are having fun crushing it with whoever they roll up for a leader! :goodjob:

Recent report I've seen suggests that it does work, even if their nomenclature is struggling.

It does work. I’ve tested today.

Policy cards, Casa wonder and Sic Hunt Dracones dedication all work with her capital switching.

Also she is RICH. Those early trade routes and coastal trades gave me a ton of money.

Edit: Also it’s really heartening to hear everyone talk about the fun they are having with the new Civs. I suspected it was a good crop and it seems so!

Did I mention Harald is unstoppable? Fact is the game just got a lot easier IMO.

When I think of all the people here who bagged her as the Weakest civ/leader. Sure they didn't have the abilities I wanted (I was hoping for a more trade/science based civ), but I doubted they were weak.

A Dido vs Eleanor match would be funny to watch though ;).
