Difference Between GOTY and Gold?

What is the difference between Game of The Year Edition and Gold Edition? I know gold includes Play the World, but what does GOTY include beyond the basic game? If there isnt anything I see no point in buying GOTY as they are the same price...

(I've been playing a downloaded version of civ 3 and am looking to go legit for the patches and so i can play conquest)

It has a fancy box. Get Gold, not GOTY. And yes, you should buy your copy on the double!

GOTY includes an extra CD in it with a few extra things. Like a short 10 min video about the making of Civ3, a coupla maps, and some articles from some magazine about strategy in the game. You'd be much better off getting Gold. I wish I would have waited a few more months for gold to come out instead of just getting the GOTY. Oh well, now I know better.
