Differences between early worker units

Ill try it out but I dont like changing versions while im still mid game. How does the AI judge resources btw? Do some naturally have a higher value or is it based on how much is in the world, or some combination?

It's way more complex than that. It computes a base value ( for a specific player, usually itself whn it's looking at a trade) based on the units and buildings it enables, modifier changes the possession of it generates, changes of corporation output it implies, health, happiness etc it generates directly in cities. Similarly yield changes and so on. When looking a buildings and units it has an effect on it considers those that it currently has, or can build. Having computed a base value it then looks at rarity, how many (if any) it already has and applies a divisor dependent on that. The final value is converted to a gold-equivalent which is what it uses to compare it against other elements of the trade.

Wow that IS more complex. It does explain some of the behavior however. Thanks for the insight.

And here i was thinking he just values the resources from a sheet with each resource and its preset value in money. Or something simple as that ...

This indeed explains a few things, thank you.
