I dual boot Windows XP 32-bit and windows 7 64-bit. For, like, ever I have played Civ 4 on XP but it started MAFing on me multiple times a turn in the early middle ages so I finally decided to try and see what would happen if I had full use of my 8GB of ram. After getting my barely used copy of windows 7 updated and stuff I installed civ 4, warlords, bts and fully patched it. Then I got the 64-bit version of 7zip, downloaded C2C and was about to stuff it in the mods folder when I remembered that I had put all civ related stuff on the D drive which was accessable from both boots.
Oh ok!
So I load Civ 4 and C2C 17 and start a new game (no saves of course) and am instantly bombarded by an endless string of BUG Options - Failed Writing INI file - (insert file location here) in the notification area below the research bar. It doesn't seem to prevent me from moving my guy around and doing stuff but it does prevent me from seeing any other notifications with the rapidity it crowds everything else out and it's annoying. Plus I'm worried about what effect whatever went wrong will have later in the game. Don't want to be 1500 turns in to discover something's irreparably broken.
So I backed out and decided to install a new copy of C2C 17 on the C: drive version I made earlier. For troubleshooting purposes you know. The 7zip extractor generates 6722 errors in the vein of "Cannot open output file (file name here). C2C 17 is nowhere to be found in the mods folder I told it to write to.
I'm at an impasse, please assist.
edit: Disregard the above. I managed to get C2C17 on the C drive version by copying the mod to the desktop and the moving it to the mods folder. No more endless string of Failed Writing Ini File errors. sheesh
