Diplo game!

No. I don't want an AI hanging around. I think it's better to start all over again. After all, we've only played for one day yet. And there are some things (like a logbook or something) which can be used from the beginning as we know now what funny things we can do.

In any case, there are now two seats available!!

I am frustrated! First we would've started with seven. Then Michelle Kira Magic didn't want to play after all, then Cimfindriel quit, and now Håkan too.

That means there are only four left!?!

I suggest we're back to square one: finding fellow-players. I don't think we can play this evening......

Ok for all the lurkers that are wondering what we decided: we are now playing with *only* four players, because no-one wanted to join our diplo game .
Well, suits me, I'll post whatever happened earlier this evening in the diplo game storyline thread later, in the meantime read this . So maybe you can join us next time in, say, august 2003

Hi everybody!

I read everything you all wrote about diplo. The example pedro gave about the kind of game diplo is, excited me!

Just suppose the diplo game is the real world: when one country starts attacking another country, without reason, you can expect them to react with counter attacks, to help the attacked country. That's why you have to be careful with your military actions, cause they might invoke the wrath of your opponents. IMO a game will be far more realistic than a normal multiplayer game, because there will be a moment when you can distinct several great empires (in our case 6) living peacefully side-by-side....until someone makes a mistake...
The story then becomes very important as well as interesting; imagine this for example:
I have some units protecting my border, near a railroad, that leads to your empire. You decide you want to establish a new trade route between Moscow and London. So your freight travels thousands of kilometres until it reaches my border and meets my protecting units. Of course you'll ask me to move my units, so that you can establish the trade route, but I may decide that I don't want another trade route with you, because I don't trust Russian goods (just a possibility). This might anger you and it may eventually lead to us engaging into war, because of that event! I might complain to the other forces that I was attacked by you for no reason, but then you point to a photo, taken by one of your orbiting satelites (screenshot!) which shows the situation: a blocked freight and two stuborn defensive units. Then it's up to the others what to do: help you, help me, or do nothing!!
As you see, war actually has a meaning in the diplo game and gains a lot more depth. In this way we'll get the most out of Civ 2 MGE!

That's the kind of thing I was looking for. As far as I'm concerned I play Civ II for quite a long time now but I'm new in multiplayer. When I play alone it's always Emperor or Deity.

The great thing about diplo game is that it's intelligent. You see I'm sick of the AI's stupidity!

I'd really like to play sometime. Unfortunately I can't for the moment and for the next month as I'm taking my Bacalaureat (French school)
During the summer holidays we should set something up...

Hi! It's me again! Whyle having breakfast (It's 8:20 am in Greece) I was thinking of the diplo idea...

It can't get more realistic!

MAN THIS IS GREAT!!!

I have already thought of two Civers (both relatives) who would certainly n'joy this thing. One in Germany and another in France

I'M EXCITED!!!

Excellent! If you set up another diplo game and keep everyone on this forum informed about it, then we'll have two diplo games running here and we can exchange experiences / tips /etc. Maybe more people'll get as excited as you, Az!
Welcome to civfanatics btw, you're not sick, you're just a fanatic!

GOOOOOOD very goood Az!

YOu should post a New thread:
Diplo Game #2!

and welcome!! have lots of fun here!

Well I think its very good ow to start a second Diplo game because Diplo game has died, nobody showed up today to bad

Thats definetly the biggest downfall to such games. You NEED reliable people if you guys ever want to finish a game. You need set dates, times etc. If you don't have this, your game will fail every time. So before you guys start another one, make sure everyone that is in the game is on the same page. There's nothing more dis-heartening than having these games crash and burn.....

Also it's best to have people playing in the diplogame that live in or near the same time zones so it'll be easier to organize the game

NO! Our game hasn't died!

Only Gar missed last sunday - it was Easter the sunday before that - and he apologized he couldn't come; unfortunately only to Pedro. But this Sunday we'll all be here again.

And indeed it's a bit hard having an American (Gar) in the game. But he'll just have to get up early.
