Playing Aztecs and at war with India. India captured one of my spies prior to my DOWing him. During the war, I am able to trade with him by going through the espionage screen and clicking "Ask for trade." It allows for full trade relations, such as buying and selling resources, however only instantaneous trades like lump sum gold will go through. Actual resources and gold per turn will not trade hands. By clearing out the spy, you can repeat the trades ad nauseum to bankrupt the AI.
