My first big, successful, game was 8 opponents on a Huge, Continent. It was in the early Modern age and there had never been a war (between anyone), I was fed up with that game, and figured it *had* to be a fluke.

Now I'll admit I don't play militaristically, but I'm not exactly a push-over. I'm very surprised none of the computers ever started a war.

The game I'm playing now, Monarch, 11 opponents on a Huge Pangaea was very similar: not a single conflict well into the Industrial age.

So I'm diplomatically tussling with the Zulus (the next strongest civ), and we all get Nationalism, and a ton of MPPs break out. The Zulus put a single longbowman on my shore and starts marching him in. After many turns of asking him to leave, I decide I can't take the chance, so I off him. (Right before I do this, I buy a MPP with all but one other civ)

Now, a few turns later, its world war. Absolute world war: *EVERYONE* is at war with *EVERYONE*. Yes, effectively 55 wars are going on. I had never thought it would turn out like this! While I was hoping for an Everyone vs. Zulu war, there were waaaaaay too many MPPs out there.

So every civ is fighting 10 different wars. Any recommended strategies? Any predicted outcomes?

You have two choice :

1 - Build military like a crazy bastard and forget everthing else... just go MILITARY power.. (this is the option I wouldn't do but it really depends on the game... if its possible for you to win this or not)

2 - Be very defensive until the war calm itself, and try to offer peace treaty to everyone near you, you can even try when your at peace after that to do mutual protection pact, computer won't bother you when you don't help him, but he will help you if youre being attacked. (That would be my choice... im more defensive, peacefull guy :) )

I think thats all I can say.. hope it helps you

1 - Protect your resources (VERY important)
2 - Build Military and Navy up.
2a-If you are overextended, make peace with a neighbor or two and then focus one a particular civ.
3 - Control the Seas
4 - Go after the AIs roads and harbours in and out of the capitol. (If the capitol doesn't have access to Oil, the rest of the civ doesn't)
5 - Gobble up the resources especially oil and rubber.
6 - Take them out one at a time. Two fronts or more is difficult.

What civ are you playing? That could make a diffrence and have you had your Golden Age?

World wars are fun. Especially when you have been at peace the entire game. It really makes all that hard work building your empire worth it when you crush enemy armies beneath your boot.

Here is a few strategies I have used.

1.) Civs such as Greece and Babalon... march along their borders, crush a city or two, and demand peace. They will usualy give it with a nice bonus.

Dealing with militaristic civs can be difficult, but if you slow them down :slay: you can get them to sign a treaty with you (I guess to pick some weaker targets).

Well I'm going to go a full-out militaristic approach. I have enough cash and infrastructure to really pump out units. On my own continent (there are two big ones), I'm just planning to generally keep feeding units in my enemies faces, take a few cities and hope for peace and a bonus.

A few questions:

- How can I get peace if they'll never respond to my diplomatic envoy? I stomped 5 Bablyonian cities and they still won't even listen.

- How can I effectively wage war against 4 opponents who are on a continent with 15 turns of travel seperating interesting points? I just launched 8 ironclads, and 40 riflemen, but won't hear of their success for 20 turns. I suppose the reverse is also true of my opponent...

It looks like my strategy is going to be some quick retaliation (I'm striking before anyone else due to my infrastructure), followed by sueing for peace to stop war weariness. Then I'll hope my opponents get stuck in long, far-reaching wars and I'll blow by them in technology while they struggle.

On 3 of my opponents, my goal is to take their capital and only their capital (they are all costal capitals). Is this realistic? Will it be enough to make them sue for peace?

Also, I'm playing as India. I used the previously documented "Pope Strategy" (spend zero on tech, build up lots of money, and use it to buy tech and persuade opponents), and then switched over to 100% tech spending once my coffers were full and I had just bought the top-of-the-line techs from my opponents.

I haven't had a Golden Age yet, and this is my first game with India. Any recommendations on getting a Golden Age with India? (Commerical, Religious) Its about 8 techs into the Industrial Age.
