 I have 2 problems: 1: When I get to the Diplomacy screen, All of my choices are all the way to the bottom fo the screen. I Checked the readme file and saw a 'font smoothing' message to"open display, click effects, run font smoothing" But I can't find any open display option:cry: 2:How do you get a screen shot? I was going to send one to show you what I mean, but don't know how. PLEASE HELP

I kind of missed your first question (it's late ;)) But to upload a screenshot, click on 'attach file' at the bottome of the posting screen, then choose a file from your hard drive and it will be uploaded into your post :)

actually I was wondering how to GET a screen shot. In the game I push all kinds o' buttons, but nothin' happens.

Press the print screen button *it's located next to the Scroll Lock and Pause buttons* alt-tab out of the game and open your favourite graphics program *note that MS Paint will do the job just fine* and then paste. Ones you've done that save it as a gif or jpg file.

*Edit: Also in reply to your first question; I think you couldn't find it because I believe it's a windows xp only option. I wasn't able to find it myself either and I'm on win98SE.*

Thank you o' wise and magnificent Zant! Your wisdom is beyond that of simple simmers such as myself! :king: I'll have to give it a try. I still wish I could get the diplomacy choices centered on the screen tho'.

In win98:

right click on desktop anywhere (except an icon!)

select Properties

select Effects tab (in the Display Properties dialog box)

In the "Visual Effects section", checkbox the box for "Smooth edges of screen fonts".

worked for me.

goodluck

Sorry to say royfurr, it didn't take.

Fr8monkey,

Did you re-boot right after making the change? (Sorry, forgot to mention that- not 100% certain you need to but it makes sense and I think that you DO have too.)

Try again with a reboot tagged onto to the end, maybe that will do it, (this worked for me on my original install and the re-install to add the second patch- I had odd ball font problems after insallation and before doing this.). If you already tried that or if you do and it doesn't work, then I dunno. Perhaps one of us has an edition difference (orig. 98 vs. SE). Or the problem your having is for a different reason.

Oh also- be sure you click OK at the end after checking the checkbox to smooth the font edges, and not accidently clicking "cancel". I do that an annoyingly lot of the time!!!

Good luck.

Yeah, I did all that stuff; but to no avail. Oh well, it still works. I guess that is good enough. Thanks for all the help everyone
