direct x help

hey i was reisntalling civ 3 after wanting to play again (been on civ 4) so i reinstalled civ 3 okay dont have play the world so didnt install that but when reinstallign c3c it said beforehand i didnt have to install direct x 9.0 now at 61% downloaded i get an error message e:/directx/directx.cab
any ideas what this means
