I posted this at a microsoft site, but i have doubts on how fast or if they will answer the question. so if you've experienced this or have any ideas on how to fix it please post them.

I'm trying to install directx 9 onto my computer so i can play conquest. I recently had to do a non-destructive
restore(in which it restores your computer to default
setting while maintains files on your computer) so when i
did this it apparently reset to the directx version i
started out with when i got the computer(which is 8.1) So i
downloaded the file to install directx 9 then after I got a
message that said

Software Installation

The software you are installing has not passed Windows logo
testing to verify it's compatability with windows XP

the software will not be installed contact your system
administrator.

I don't know what the message means, but i'm sure that
directx 9 is compatable with XP as i have installed it
before with no problems.
