Does anyone know how to disable this feature?? as great as it is in most games, for scenarios it is just a nightmare, since when cities are too close to each others, the AI tends to raze them (don't know how to create Europe without a lot of cities close to each others, in comparison with other parts of the world....)
Since it is possible in the editor to make the AI destroy the cities every time they are captured, why isn't there an inverse option????

I've looked for a way to make the AI from destroying the city. It is mostly because the city sizes are too small or cities are too close. You have to remember the AI is based on math, not common sense.

the AI even destroys cities with a size of 6 in a perfect location , meaning cities which are quite far away from other cities...
Even worse, I placed victory point location, and the AI still destroys cities, meaning it loses the victory points because they fall in the culture radius of the enemy...

It is probably based on culture.
I am gonna try out for my C3C version of Reconquista the new "retain culture on capture" to see if that helps.

@ Loulong: it doesn't. I already have the option on...
only thing I know is a city pop 1 with no culture is automatically razed, if it has culture, there is a chance it will be taken... but why??? I still don't know...
But there definitively is some Random element in it, since the same city is sometimes destroyed, sometimes kept

This is not how VP scoring works. You get the VPs for placing a unit in the square, not whose borders it's within. They could still get points.

I don't really know how to keep it from razing cities, though (other than keeping the automatic raze of small towns from happpening - they need 10+ culture).

pity--- it was nice from Firaxis to give us an Editor option to make the AI raze the cities everytime, but I'd rather have just the opposite... if it goes in one direction, I guess it should be possible the other way too....

I second that! It sucks seeing important cities in a scenario being razed just because they're too close to another...

There's been rumours that the AI won't raze cities as long as it's under the OCN, and therefore raising that (to 512 or so! :D) should discourage it from unmotivated city-flattening. Has anyone made a test of that?

This was among my early suggestions for Conquests back in the day it was being beta tested, but you know, you can't always make your voice heard, unfortunatelly.

Still, I'm fully supporting this.
