disabling revolutions in a mod

I understand the revolutions mod is not compatible with multi player, i would like very much to play the GEM mod with some friends, however i am told in the faq to disable revolutions and the rest of the mod will work fine. how do i go about doing this? thanks.

When you start up the game, uncheck the option Revolutions. Only the host may do this.

i have tried that unfortunately and it still crashes i guess its not revolutions, thank you anyways
