Disappearing Aircraft?

Hello all,
I was playing last night and something odd seemed to be happening. I was at war with the Aztecs and I created some bombers/stealth aircraft to help with city raids. Once the war was over, I used the "Sleep" command on them so I would have to tell them to "Do Nothing" every turn. A little later, I went to war with another country and when I went to go find my aircraft, they were gone. I thought maybe they just didn't show up like a fortified unit in a city, so I went to the unit list to find them. Again, they didn't show up. Am I missing something or did Civ eat them?

So, I had a single fighter (a zero actually) in a city. When I put it to sleep or patrol... I forget which... I had problems finding it again. I knew what city it was in, and eventually I realized that the icon disappears (for whatever reason) and there was a small "aircraft" bar near the city's name (above, I believe).

I don't know if that bar is always there, but I had first emptied everything else out of that city... and then I noticed the bar.

Maybe this is your same problem, maybe not.
But, once I found and activated the fighter, everything was fine.

On the units screen, the fighter was still listed... but there was no location for it... which was weird.
