I haven't played a MOD since Civ 3 so thought I'd try. I loaded the 1000 a.D mod. It didn't start so I disabled it and since then my mouse disappears every time I load the game. If I guess I can get menu items to light up but can't play at all. If I ALT-tab the cursur is right there, but returning to CIV V it vanishes.

Am not familiar with that particular mod, but you might try deleting your cache folder and your ModUserData folder, then restarting Civ-V.
You should also first completely delete the failed mod from your Mods folder, as simply not loading it inside the game is usually not enough to eliminate conflicts.
