I've had another FFH2 game die on me. At this point, both of the games I've been playing have reached a point where they've siezed and just continue to die. I reload and hit end turn, and bzzzzt, catastrophic failure.

Is this common?

I'll need more info than that. What version are you running? Do you have auto-save on? Can you post a save game?

1) Use a smaller map (with fewer civilizations).
2) Use a map with more water (less space for animals to spawn)
3) Play in windowed mode (as opposed to fullscreen mode).

Had it happen to me two out the last three games played. I posted about it in the bug thread but never got a response. I think at least one of them was a memory error on a huge map and i think that is a Vanilla bug because i've seen it listed as fixed in the BtS features.

RoM (folder called "FfH Rise of Mania"): this save crashed two times; third time I could continue without a crash. I've been having these since version 21 IIRC.

I know next to nothing so take this advice for what it's worth: On the rare occassion I have had a freeze-up like you've described, I just replay a few turns and make slightly different moves. That has always got me past hiccups so far.

Getting the same issue(CTD or hang) when upgrading a (khazad) dwarven warrior to dwarven soldier with access to copper(weapon upgrade?).

That's similar to what was about to happen in my save: my capital is about to complete a dwarven soldier. Looking in the Worldbuilder I couldn't see anything special about to happen with other civs. And setWeapons was moved in the SDK in v21. So this theory is a good candidate. Except of course the question why it only crashes once in a while.

I've overwritten the first game, but it crashed every time I captured Garrim Gyr's capital. I replayed it a few times, capturing the city of different turns, but it died every time I took that city. I eventually went to the worldbuilder and removed th city and played on.

This most recent time it dies during the other civs' turn. I'll load up the save game tomorrow.

Both games were as Lanun, huge world, 14 civs, archipegelo, high seas, classical start, version .22.

You should upgrade to .22h, to begin with - that fixes more than a few problems.

Upgraded from patch d to patch h, no longer crashes...
