I would like to advocate that we strive to contact the missing civs by exploring the north-eastern ocean with adventurous seamen on suicidal missions.
Out there are 4 more civilizations, and thus a landmass of some size. Since galleys have a 50% chance to survive in deep water, and given the suspected size of the missing continent, I guess that galleys need about 2 turns to make contact. Thus we need about 2 galleys to succeed. Statistically.
The best starting point seems to be at New Berlin going NE. I suggest we keep the 2 galleys near Acheron to transport troops or to block the isthmus near Raven's Flight (my favorite) and send the galley in the northwest towards New Berlin. Once New Falcon's Heaven has finished its granary, it will also build galleys, until we succeed.
Since the AIs never sail the unsecure seas, we would have a trading monopoly on techs which is a huge advantage.
