Divide plunder bug/weird feature?

I have a question, I am not totally positive it is a bug, though.

If you start a game a the easiest difficulty you only get 5% of the plunder at divide time. The harder is your level the more parcentage you get. Unofrtunately I have the impression that if you do level escalation this thing is not true.

I noticed because I had a game in which I was getting rather old and I had this "strategy" to only use keypad4 in duels. Granted if you have some age, and you try to fight Marquis Montalban, there is not much of a chance to win that way... So I started a new game just to learn how to parry and use keypads 7, 1, 9 and 3. While I was getting more comfortable with the (for me) new controls, I kept dividing the plunder and escalating the level, so I would get faster opponents and practice some more. What I noticed is that even though the "Divide the plunder" screen did credit me with the correct amount of money (some 5/10/20/30/50% of the loot), the money I would have in my treasure would still be 5% of the loot I had before dividing, as in that gam I started at the easiest level. As well, another game started at 10% difficulty kept saying in the right amout in the "Divide the plunder" screen and crediting me 10%...

Is this a bug or I am misinterpreting the rules?

Thank you

As Sir Lancelot said basically:

If it is the PC game, is it patched? If not, then find the patch on the internet HERE.

If you are using the X-Box version then I can't help you.

Guys, sorry, I have to admit you DO have a point there :D

It would be the PC version, patched.

[Anyhow, you guys have to admit that independent of the version/platform, the question whether this would be expected behaviour or not still holds: I can't believe such a central rule wuold be patform dependent, would it? :)]

Thanks
Luca

Ah  Then I really cannot help you now. I haven't played the game in months, so I don't remember getting this error at all.

Good luck on finding someone to aid you though. :)

I have played it on C64 and Amiga 4000. I can't recall this behaviour, but it's a long time so I might have forgotten something. I should have remembered it if it was true on the C64 version, because I played it a lot. (It's still my favorite version.)

Pirates is not the same on all platforms, it has evolved and been more advanced with the years. It was released in 86 to the C64. The first Amiga version was out at about the same time or a little later, and with more game features. I would guess every version is more or less different.
So knowing which platform you play is not without importance.

The way I read your post, I suspect it's a bug. I have not played the IBM-PC version, although I own a copy.

Hemmm... sorry again, I assumed that being a bug report it was clearly referencing the latest version...

I am talking about the latest edition of Pirates!, with its associated patch (1.0.2), on PC.

I would expect the old versions to be somehow different, what I meant before is that I would not expect the current PC version and the current Xbox version to be any different. (I mean, if they found abug in the PC version while porting, I'd be inclined to think that it would be relatively convenient to issue the relative patch for the PC version at the same time)

Sorry for any confusion
Luca
