Does having two furs linked have double the effect as one fur?

Right, the first one always goes to you first, any extras are on the trading block.

You can trade the first one also.

One time I traded my only spice for wine and 10gp. I stayed the same as far as happy people but made 10gp. After 20 turns the other civ did not do the deal again.

And if you have three of them, than you can trade it to two AI`s. :p

yeah, did the same thing once. it's kind of tricky, but i found it quite funny to pull such a deal. it's risky, too. if the trading civ looses its lux resource ( e.g. due to war with a 3rd party), you keep on selling your lux for 10gpt.

but that the ai didn't want to do the deal again, doesn't mean that she eventually became aware of your cheeky business behaviour ........... :)

ONce I tried to trade two furs to the Persians, it didn't work, they only wanted one

Funny, 2 beers are always better than 1.

The main benefit of duplicates is trade, and the fact that you're denying it to another civ.
