Do Helicopters realy have any use?

I don't know if its just me or what but I think that Heicopters are a complete waste of time. They can't do anything they sould at least be able to transport troops. If anyone knows of any use for this flying waste of reasources I'd love to know.

I use them mainly for the recon, but other than that.... Not really.

Some people here have posted that by increasing their range and changing other stuff about them, they become not only more useful, but more fun as well.

Yes, they do. I use it for two things mainly.
1) When you carry on campain on remote island or continent and suddenly need reinforsment at some point (say capture City with last atacking tank (one hitpoint left) but have no other troops to enter the city and hold it for next turn), just send Helicopters with Inf (don't forget to awake them after landing), sometimes 2 Inf is enough to hold on.
2) On the small remote island, where no poit to build airport helicopters can bring troops when this island become to be a combat zone.

Oter abilities like paradrops are less useful because of short range.
