Do I need a new video card?

Civ 4 seems to run on my computer, but the map does not look right. I have a GeForce4 MX 420 video card. Is not not sufficent to run Civ 4?

I don't know if that card meets the minimum requirements, but a new card sure wouldn't hurt. These days you can pick up something a lot more powerful than that for under $100.

Look in your motherboard documentation and find out if it supports AGP 1x, 4x, or 8x so you know what card will work in your computer.

Post a screenshot if you can of the map you are seeing. The card should work with up to date drivers.

Hello this is my first time doing this but I have a serious problem and I am noticing there is nothing that I can do to stop it!! The Civ IV game, which is awesome just slows and stutters when showing movies and I don't know what to do I have done everything in the book from the 3d Analyze to the window. Here are the system info you may need to help me:
AMD Athlon XP 2000+
1.00GB
XP Pro SP2
Nvidia Geforce MX 4000 128
I'm guessing that is all that you need and massive amounts of memory to burn!! What can I do is it my card that sucs or what because looking at the requirements my computer meets it!! Please help thanx

I thought I had upgraded my drivers, but I did it again and now it seems to be working.

Here's another wierd thing - when I go into "system" it says I've only got 640KB of memory - that CAN'T be right but I don't remember what I do have. IS this something funky with Dell computers, and is there a way short of opening the box up to see how much memory I really have?

I would get a new card, even if that one you have meets the minimum system requirements. Like they said, they're not expensive.

You do need a new card, I have a GeForce 5200 +1GB of memory and it works just about fine but still could be better and they are on geforce 8500 now i think. and for Girevik aswell, any Geforce 4### card is not good enough for civ4 to run properly a Geforce 7600 is about 100$ but my pc magazine doesn't say what it is in euros
