Do I Need to Install Warlords to Play Bts

Hi,

Do I need to install Warlords to play Bts? I was trying to patch Bts up to 3.19 but was having problems, and read that you should un-install all CivIV programs, re-install and then patch. However, my copy of Warlords appears to be damaged and I'm unable to install (the disc looks scratched).

So do I need ot get another copy of Warlords, or can I just install Bts and get back playing? If I do need a copy, can anybody advise if I purchase from Steam (that seems quickest and easiest from deepest darkest Australia) that I can then install and run Bts with no problems??

EDIT: Forget the steam option, I need to have the original CivIV installed from Steam as well, it wont run on my original copy.

No you don't need Warlords to run BTS. All you will be missing are the Warlord specific scenarios. You will see a Warlords folder still as BTS creates a dunny Warlords install with the information it needs.

Be careful buying a downloaded version of Warlord for a disc version of Civ 4, many people have problems and fail to get it to work. Gamestop confirmed their download does not work with disc Civ 4, someone has reported that steam downloads don't work with disc versions of the base game, but the report was not Civ specific.

Most of the time Disk and download versions are different and not compatible with each other. An example is Steam where they encode the game differently then the disk version is so expansions and Mods wont work with it unless they are from steam.

Cheers guys, managed to install Bts last night. After downloading patch v3.19 twice (from here and Atomic Gamer) and both times being unable to upgrade (one was a corrupt file and one would just stop after starting), I managed to download from another site and install worked first time!!!

Now, back to getting the balance right in my life and playing Civ, Civ , Civ instead of boring stuff like work, work, work.....
