Apparently I do not get the world wonder benefit. For example I just won Beijing which had beat me earlier to Porcelain Tower, but I did not get a Free Policy

So how and which wonders really give benefits when conquered instead of built?
I have just DoWed Elizabeth to get Great Lighthouse for my navy as Siam is getting irritable across the sea.. I wonder if I'll get the wonder bonus of Great Lighthouse?

I started targeting the AI which has beat me to a wonder after reading about UN and diplomatic victory on this forum, but I don't get it.:crazyeye:

BTW now playing on Prince (which I know is not much) after reading War Academy for CiV.. Thanks for it... Maybe I'll win a Time victory (seems to be the only VC I manage to get) on King someday..

I believe it is pretty simple. You won't receive any one-time benefits that occur when a wonder is first built (free tech, start of a golden age, etc) but you will receive any permanent benefits such as +culture or specialist bonuses.

From what I have noticed, the on built triggered events (free GP, tech, etc.) are the only ones that you don't get. Passive effects like +10 :c5food: or +:c5strength: in friendly lands works for you once you conqur it.

This is my experience too... the "one off" events can only be triggered once, when the Wonder is first built. You do, however, get any lasting effects though.

As others have said, on the Wonders like the Great Library, you don't get the benefit of the "Upon building..." bonus (such as a Free Technology).

But! Many of those Wonders give additional bonuses, such as happiness, culture, specialist points, and, of course, you get the points for owning the Wonder.

Also, the PT gives you a 50% boost to Research Agreements. If you took that from Beijing, it's still worth it even if you didn't get the free Great Scientist.

In my experience, Cristo Redentor does not work for conqueror. But its original owner loses benefit until he gets it back. Anyway, it seems to me there are many exceptions, unless they're bugs. Did anybody see another exception or some confusing case?

This. At least for G&K not sure about how it works in BNW since I'm playing peacefully so far.
