do u attack with?

i was just playing a game ... and was wondering what units do u attack citys and hard targets with first? do u use your elete units in the hope of cracking open the toughest defenders? or use your veterans and regulars to wittle down the baddies toughest defenders before attacking with your elete units with an assured victory (perhaps in the hope of great leaders), or do u just bombard a tough target to 1 hp? and attack with whatever?

personally i like to attack with my elete units first and crack open the city like a rusty bird cage ...

ps.. im talking about those targets u know will be a tough battle not just the little insignfigant ones

I try to save my elite units for easy victories against targets in the open. When making a difficult assault, I usually mass my artillery and bombard the crap out of the position or city. This way I can achieve maximum gain at lowest cost.

save your elite units for easy fights. That will help you generate more leaders and llose few units.
For instance, after a bombing, when the enemy is left to one hp, you can throw in an elite unit.

I don't throw in my Elites when the odds are, they will lose bad. I use them as soon as they should win.

For example, I probably wouldn't throw an Elite Cavalry against a Veteran Infantry fortified in a a city. I would probably use him on a conscript infantry or even a veteran rifleman though.

I guess the poll choice #2 would be best for me but I sometimes lean to #1. I use artillery too when available.

i disagree with you all, i use my elites to fight the hardest battles... and my regular or veterans to fight the easy ones... but yes i use artillery a lot and bombards too.

Multiple. I bombard first and then attack with elite units if I smell a win, in order to get a GL. If I already have a GL heading somewhere, I will use those verteran units to get the promotion.

My regulars, if I have any, are usually the defenders. ie infantry

I couldn't vote in this poll because the option of attacking with Elites and Veterans was not given. I never attack with just Elite's, though I'd like to, because I never enough of them. I usually have 1 or 2 Elites mixed in with 3 or more Veterans. I never use Regulars to attack, they lose every time, unless it's a barb camp. I don't even like using Regulars for defense. I try to build barracks before I build my first Spearman.

When I have a Leader waiting for a job I only use Veterans. Otherwise I use Elite units for difficult but not hopeless fights.
If the opponent has only one hitpoint left I prefer Veterans, too.

I use my 4 unit modern armor armies, they win 99.9% of all battles.

Mech Infantry
Fortified
In a metropolis

i didnt mean attacking with only elites ... just the units u send in to battle first when u have a big stack outside the city/fortress

i like to use my elite units because i find they have a much larger chance of winning and i dont like artillary because i try to keep the battle moving to fast for the artillary to keep up ... and if the war doesnt move that fast then it is going real bad

i was just wondering .... the game im playing at the moment im the japanese and my samuri have just swept the germans away and i had my stacks of 15 or so next to there citys with a couple of elites and the rest vets .... was just a question that poped into my head

When I first got the game I was a moron and sent in my Elites to start the fight; lately though I've wised up and I now send them in to finish it. The point being to get a Great Leader, of course.

I attack with whatever I got.
As long as the enemy falls I do not worry about what I send I got wave after wave of morons at my disposal ready to bash their heads in on the enemys defence at my command!
