Maybe I should post a new one, but too lazy. I recently come across what I think is a cheat, but I am not sure. Is AI subjected to the 4 minimum turn for research rule? The recent game I played, all civ (inclding myself) did not have gunpowder. But next turn, out it comes. I bought it and gave it free to others to speed up tech research. Then, next turn I check again and to my surprise Chemistry is out??!! Did not save the game though. Too lazy.
but could be wasted by the AI - if it ever rushed wonders, that is ).

??!! Resources??!! You aren't replying to me right?
If you are. No bugs there. I bought/sold Gunpowder from/to other civ that very turn and Chemistry the next turn. Anyway, my civ3 has pretty much been stable since the first patch. So, I would exclude display bug from my list.

so why should Civ3 be fair?

What would be wrong about it being fair? I agree with Killer that this should be fixed for multiplayer, at least to have each human's production and moves together, to prevent the last human players from getting a big advantage over the first human players.
Couldn't this in fact be what is implied by the advertised Turn-less mode?Originally posted by zeeter
I cannot imagine that Firaxis would release the MP edition this way. They will almost certainly do some sort of random build sequence or handle this problem another way.

And about AI cheating - I've been wracking my brain to come up with a game where the AI does not in some way cheat (where I define cheating as doing something the human player is incapable of) but I did not succeed - can anyone help me out?

no zeeter, we want random order, and everyone would be smart enough to get that. You go first in one game, last in another, middle of the pack in the third.... Who could complain??????
I have NEVER seen anyone on this board who'd call this a cheat!
X-Com doesn't really count in my book, but I guess I should have made my definition a bit clearer - sorry. Since the Aliens and the Humans are not supposed to start on "even ground", there really isn't any point in talking about cheating. When you start a game of X-Com, the Aliens have weapons and abilities superior to the humans, but that isn't cheating, it's just the rules of the game.Originally posted by sumthinelse
AFAIK X-Com didn't cheat, and I don't think that the SSI games Panzer General, Pacific General, etc. cheated.
Sure there are cheats in the game, and you're right, probably not even 1/4 of the amount that gets reported on this board are cheats. But I have to tell you, although there are some real cheats in the game, some of the alleged "cheating" by CIV3 seems to be just the imagination of the players (including me!). I'm not talking about you, Killer.![]()
