do you guys make wonders?

Sorry, nihil8r! Didn't mean to fuel a threadjack!

I always go for the Pyramids (saves 1 gold per city per turn for the entire game, and frees up young cities to build temples and libraries and defensive units without lagging in pop growth) and Great Library (to keep anyone else from getting it, it also usually gives me Republic) in the early game. I just started Conquests and Artemis' Temple is also very nice. Sun Tzu's Art of War is essential for conquering on a Pangea map because it allows your units to fully heal the turn after taking a city. Leo is helpful and I usually have enough of a lead and a big city available to build it when I get invention. Adam Smith is essential for a nonbankrupt empire. Theory of Evolution is nice, Hoover Damn, Sistine Chapel, Bach's Cathedral, Universal Suffrage are very nice. If I didn't get Universal Suffrage I'd probably stay in Communism for the rest of the game.

Internet is great if your game lasts that long.

If you wait until Railroad before your attacking you only need one barracks. ;) However, it is nice to have just so the AI doesn't.

That's true, but I like to get my conquesting underway as soon as I have chivalry (for Japanese or Arabs) or Military Tradition (for Ottomans and others). If I waited to have my railroad network up, the enemy would have musketmen in all their cities and possibly even cavalry. By the time I got to later civs, they'd have riflemen and that just reeks of a fair fight.

Oh yes, and if you like Ancient wonders, do not stack the game with the new civs, because they all have early UUs and thus early golden ages. I just got Conquests and wanted to meet the new guys, and ended up only getting Great Library and Temple of Artemis, not pyramids, and that was on Warlord level!

uh ... aren't we still talking about civ wonders?
Well, we were drifting off into a discussion of how great SirPleb is, but I guess that really wasn't a threadjack considering that he does wonders with Civ!
