which temperature do you like wet or dry? when you setup the game you can choose, so i choose wet. i like jungles and marshes better tahn deserts. jungles you can cut down and can become grasslands. deserts can't be improved as much. i also don't like temperate because tahn you have this huge jungle or desert in the middle of the map (at least it always happens to me).

I LOVE wet, too. Its a shame to see a large, useless, ugly desert in the middle of the map. :aargh::aargh:

I've always used temperate, but I might try wet. Dry could be ok if you are using an agricultural civ, however.

i voted for temperate. jungle can be cut down, but cutting it down wastes so many turns that can be spent with workers mining, irrigating, roading, etc... same thing for marshland. Deserts arent bad especially if they are complimented with flood plain. you mine the desert, you can get oil from it and it's way better than tundra. then you irrigate around the flood plain, the flooding occurs pretty rarily plus the advantage outweights the bad stuff. if you have a wet you are going to end up with the map being mainly jungle so the odds are you going to get a jungle. also, with dry you will get tons of desert and flood plain. the more flood plain, the more chances it can kill your citizens. with desert the developing of a lot of desert is tough. therefore, if you have temperate you have a healthy mix of both, getting all the advantages with less negatives :D

When rolling for potential starts to try Sid on, I chose Dry, but only because I was agricultural. I normally play with temperate.

I choose temperate because I like a more even mix. But it does sometimes seem to create a big desert or jungle wasteland somewhere in the map. I guess it's just a lose-lose situation.

When I lose (or rather abandon) several games in a row and feel the urge to humiliate the damn program, I choose a wet, warm world and select an industrious tribe. I love it when half of the world is covered by jungle and marsh. It makes development much harder for everyone, but humans build much more workers than the AI, so they can cope with it much more easily. And being industrious makes the gap even wider.

When I'm industrious, I like to play wet, 3 billion. I like the look of the map covered in jungles and mountains. I like dry when I'm agricultural.

I like temperate but one of my best game was on an dry map with lots of flood plains and wheat on them to.

Wet map=oil concentrated in small areas=difficult to get oil=oil wars=bad.

I like wet best, just cause it slows everyone else down in developement. I usually play on a large or huge map, so it make a big difference. Still I like to mix it up cause the same thing just gets boreing after awhile.

I prefere dry, rocky and warm terrain. It has some advantages in the beginning and afterwards you have enough workes to use that terrain.

I like wet.

Last game I played was rocky, dry, and cold. I got stuck right in between a massive jungle and a massive desert.

Mix.

Dry - Fine for agriculture.

Wet - BEtter if your industrious to clear crap.

I like Dry, because it builds things faster, Flood plains produce lots of gold, and they are usually in the middle of deserts. :p I hate jungles, the make me mad. I dont know why. I also like to build lots of horsemen in ancient times. By the time units are 2 squares away from my city i send a massive stack of horsmen at their SoD.. and it completely rips it apart.... :)

Hmm I just started in a dry, warm and rocky world, and was in between a big patch of hills and another big patch of jungles......

I mostly play RaR, so vote for Dry.
