Do you pick your techs?

Ah, my first poll. Anyways, I'd like to know from you people: do you enable the ability to pick your techs to research, or do you use the default method of 'guiding" your research goals?

Myself, I prefer to pick my techs. I'm still used to the Civ way of doing things, and I like to see what I'm getting first so I can plan ahead.

I have to pick the techs. Otherwise it takes forever to get to Matter Compression, the tech needed to build Habitation Domes.

No, I use blind research. I think it's part of the fun. Since the game is set in the future I think I have no clue what the scientists could come up with. Therefore I let them do the research and am all happy with what they give me

Each has it's advantages and disadvantages. If you're a builder like morgan, you would probably benefit more from directed since you want to get Industrial Automation ASAP.

I do like SideshowBob. The Blind research can easily be guided anyway, so it doesn't matter which one I take...

I like to pick because my statigy is based on geting mind/machine intereface and air power and singualarty and space stuff

Same as Sideshowbob, at least for now... I've just rediscovered the game, I'll probably choose later my techs, when I got reused to playing SMAC.

I prefer blind research, because I think it's more challenging, and more realistic.
But I do hate it when critical techs take forever. One time, I researched Matter Compression only after having gotten every possible tech that does not require Matter Compression.

i used to do direced but correct me if im wrong it seemed like i got more techs from blind so i do blind and its also fun {[]}

It the number of techs you get (actually, the amount of time it takes to research techs) doesn't change if you're using blind or not.

Actually, I'm hoping blind research will be an option in CivIV.

I play both but prefer too chose to get air power and mind machine interface firstwhen I pased this phase I got confused because I want to get hovercraft and Tankbut so much technology in the way and some time have to make lot of reseach because he refuse to let me choice what I want
