I play the same map a few times and then play a different one. Each game is totally different, even if you know what the world looks like, you'll probably get a different starting location and you can play as a different civilization or with different opponents. In other words, no two games are the same.

I play mostly random maps because I don't like knowing in advance what the world looks like.

How about building a map consisting of clusters of medium to small islands, seperated by coast and sea tiles. No island bigger than say 20 - 30 tiles. Island clusters separated by narrow strips of ocean. I am thinking lots of land (75% - 80%); but with enough water to force Civs to build navys.

Maybe you could do something like this and upload it here?

@Sparrow3
I'm presently working on a map (testing) which may be of interest to you. Its C3C on a 240x240 grid. Contains hundreds of islands and has 12 civs. I'm only up to 290 AD, but I think I need to make a few revisions with resources etc.

I consider all requests for C3C maps but make no promises as to time frame because of my unpredictable time availablity.
I need to know general issues such as:
game grid size
# of civs (6-21)
general terrain preference and age
if desired - name of map.
Please note, I do not at this time make maps of a historical nature nor country or world maps. There are others who do this much better than I.

@ Fanatica
Yes that map does sound interesting. Lots of oppertunity for naval encounters and 240 X 240. I like Huge worlds. The bigger the better, I say.

I don't understand the reference to 290 AD. Is it necessary to play the map to get the settings (start loc., resources, etc.) correct?

As you may have guessed, I don't do maps. Although, at some future date I may want to try.

No, it's not necessary to play the map, but I like to play it a few times in order to evaluate it's game play. I like the map to be very challenging, but not unnecessarily difficult For instance if a ship can only move 4 squares, it would take it 60 turns minimum in order to circumvent the world on a 240x240 map.:eek:
So usually I try to play the map at least up to railroads in order to see how it might behave in more serious game play, especially on maps above 100x100.
