Guess I might as well repost this:
I use it all the time if I'm in the mood for a quick game. Right now I'm weening myself oof of it though so I can move up a few dificulties. (I'm also going on a bit of a "wonder fast" to help develop my skills.)

Hate it. Don't get me wrong -- I played it once (as Japan) in a PTW game last year. While I'm not averse to a good old-fashioned military slugfest from time to time, I just can't stand maneuvering TONS AND TONS of units -- workers, tanks, etc. -- and giving instructions to each individual unit (especially with workers...the game NEEDS an army unit for workers almost as much as it needs fully functioning Scientific Great Leaders, and an AI that can use them properly.)

accelerated production distorts the game for me and feels that makes the game easier so i sometimes think accelerated production=no skill.

Always.

I really don't understand this obsession with people wanting to research the techs at 'their proper time'. This is a game, not a historical simulation....

Personally, I don't care when I research what tech, so long as I do it before the AI and can make some $$$$ off of them for it.

Playing with accelerated production distorts the game. I used to play with AP but now i'm falling back to old habits.

I did for about the first 8 or 9 months that I had the game. I had selected it to see if it worked like it does in SMAC, then forgot and left it on (I do this kind of thing alot  ). Did it yesterday with "Elimination" left on  :wallbash: , 9 hours game play wasted.

I like the game as it is and don't have the time to make experiments.;) So I never even tried Accelerated Production until now.
Although I entered a PBEM a few days ago and there this option is on. But that's another thing.

Having it off has nothing to do with historical accuracy for me. I get to the Industrial Age in 1200 AD anyway. :)

It just takes away a level of detail. Being a natural builder, I like to MM the cities with more options.

Since I often take up to a month to play a game (an hour here, an hour there.. ) I like not using accelerated production.. and in fact, if I could figure out how to slow it down even more.. not just the techs, but the calendar... give the rise of certain aspects more pronounced meaning.. I proabably would.. discovering a single tech could have a much more pronounced effect, but it would always sway the balance.. (like being the only civ with iron working for 40 turns AND a supply of iron nearby..)

I've played so much accelerated production games i've forgotten how to play non-accelerated production games, even though ap=no skill

I went through a phase of using it, when I liked to build peacefully and hopefully avoid war, but once I began warmongering I found the enormous scale of AP warfare too time-consuming. So now, I vote "never" but I don't mean "never have"

Same here, I was a huge AP fan for a while - the games moved quicker, but then I started seeing that this kind of skewed things and the game didn't feel so liesurely. So everyone once in a while if I want a fast moving game or in multiplayer, so I chose 'rarely'.

I used to do it all the time. But I didn't like reaching the Modern Ages in 1000 AD. So I turned it off once I started playing on levels beside Chieftain.

Never use it. Have tried once (one of the PTW scenarios with AP preset). Not my taste.
