does an MPP compel you to STAY at war?

I've made a mistake in my latest game (C3C 1.22 epic)... I went to wartime mobilization at peacetime, thinking that meant I could exit it at wartime. I signed a mutual protection pact with India; France declared war on India; I had to declare war on France.

But right now I'm the only one with electronics, and I'd really like to build the Hoover Dam. So I need peace to get off wartime mobilization.

Would signing a peace treaty with France wreck my reputation? Or does an MPP without a military alliance mean you only need to declare war, and then all parties are on their own for negotiating peace?

No! However, don't do it!!! Since you currently have MPP with India and India is still at war with France, if you sign a peace treaty with France, your MPP may cause you to declare war on France the next turn; therefore, it will cause you to break peace treaty with France and this is where you wreck your reputation.

I dont have C3C but I know in vanilla Civ3 deals are not automaticaly renogotiated after 20 turns. I'm guessing, since the latest patches compensate for this, that C3C does have the "renogotiate deals after 20 turns setting". Just in case it has been greater then 20 turns since you signed your MPP then in the deal window with India click active at the bottom right and cancel your MPP. You probabally allready know about that though. The previous poster is exactly right and If it's your rep that you are most concerned for then you really have no options, especially if you have enabled diplomatic victory. I would suggest taking the fight to France and hope for a leader so that when you can de-mobolize you can hurry the Hoover Dam. Good Luck and I know I learned this lesson the hard way to!

Vanilla, PTW and C3C have auto-renegotiation as option in game prefs.

Even if someone likes to generally set that option, it's often practical to switch it off for some turns at some point in the game - just to avoid that "20-turns-prison". Of course, AI must not re-negotiate a deal on their own after 20 turns, but let it continue silently.

This isn't a viable option either. In conquests, you can't rush Hoover with a MGL. They are only good for rushing small wonders and improvements. You'd have to hope for a SGL to rush Hoover.

I suggest you weigh your options. How important is Hoover? More important than your rep? If not, then take your medicine and wait the twenty turns. :(

You can always declare war on a fourth party, then make peace with them soonish.
