Does anyone else get annoyed

That's not new, it's been discussed for some time. There is a casino, whack-the-mole, and a 'hunted' talking ad - bugs the hell out of everyone, and has gotten a few in trouble.

Do NOT download popup stopper free v3.0; it is really bad. Get version 2.9; it is much better than 3.0. The link is http://www.panicware.net/PopUpStopper292.exe

2.9 is a lot a smarter. It can recognize the difference between a popup window and a window you opened. The ability to report a pop-up from the main menu is there too, you can disable the splash screen, and there's no automatic updating, either.

That link doesn't take you directly to the 2.92 exe; it takes you to a login page, and after surfing there, I didn't see the earlier version.

Scroll all the way down and you'll see that there's a banner down there. Sometimes the banners do funny things. For example they make strange sounds, play music/trailer, start talking, or generate pop-ups. Most of the time they just sit there and do nothing, waiting for someone to click on them.

Mine alyways say-Action Canceled.

I am glad too. From what I hear those ads can be real buggers.

Sorry, it was the wrong link. Oops.

It is http://www.popupstopper.net/PopUpStopper292.exe

If they release a better version of their Popup Stopper I'll change the links accordingly.

(I have edited the post accordingly)

Thank you for the quick response. While I don't get too many pop ups here, I do get them frequently elsewhere, and too often, they tend to have spy- or ad-ware attached to them. The most irritating ones are the ones that keep opening new ones when you close the old ones.

I've seen that one advertising a popup blocker. Chances are that you must pay to download the program and it is quite expensive - Panicware's free software is just fine. And AOL has just released a popup stopper for their own browser.

Hmmm...it seems that Oprea and AOL (at least) don't play the audio in the banner ads. I'm not sure why.
