You can't use a custom avatar until you've been a member 30 days and made 30 posts, or something to that effect. It's in the forum rules somewhere. Then you can upload a custom image through UserCP, although size is limited. Can't quite remember the file formats accepted, imagine .gif, .png, maybe .jpg.

You could try googling for a interesting avatar, or you can make your own with a graphics program.
I am sure there are a lot of people who would be happy to make you something, but they would need at least some idea of what you'd want, within reason. The avatar size here is max 70x70. Not bad, I've seen much smaller limits, but you can also find larger ones too. If you see something that it a bit too big, your graphics program can resize it.

For ideas, visit JaKool Designs (just one example). (Google away for more ideas!)
They normally do Signatures, and just maybe someone will volunteer to make your avatar, it's worth a shot.
