Uhhh, why. There have been dozens of these polls. Just go post in one of those.

But those polls are all over 2 days old... As such, they clearly can't reflect the current state of the game. :mischief:

It runs fine unless you play on huge maps with max civs and make it past 300 or so turns. or try to zoom in and out of space fast. on huge maps with lots of civs in modern era of course.phew!!I'll stike to civ3 for now.

I voted "not to any useful extent", since I haven't been able to complete a whole game yet. Played it a bunch and enjoyed what I could, but not being able to progress through the industrial/modern eras and finish a game really gets irritating.

Most of them also predate the 1.52 patch, so I was hoping for some up to date numbers.

It plays fine for me. Only when there are many cities and i scroll over the map it gets a little choppy.

It's playable sinceI turned off the movies. Slow late in game, minor graphic issues, but playable. Assuming the next patch will let me play it in full, that'd be fun.

Civ for has worked extremely well for me I had no problems except for late in the game it takes a little longer to end my turn.

Snow Monkeys will rule the Earth!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Plays fine for me...no apparent issues.

Weirdest thing- my first install -out of the box ran just fine- even after the patches- then my main hard drive died last week- I put new hd in -reinstalled civ 4 and patched on same computer hardware- and it runs so sloww-- now i know what the complaints are all about- its not a hardware issue- and I have the perfect example of why its not a hardware issue- im looking into the bink video and other things/possibly sound/ xml-
all my drivers are up to date.. still testing..

definatly playable. ofcourse AltTabing sometiems disrupts the colors for some odd reason.. and the line that follows the movement disappears everynow and then.

ADVISORS SUCK

I'm on a dell d600 laptop with 512mb ram and with 32 mb ati mobility 9000 graphics. Surprisingly it works (I'm quite hooked), yes its a bit choppy and framerate isn't good, but its still highly playable. I run in at low graphical settings and at normal sized maps

Because Bonscott, if you'd taken the time to look around, you'd see that this poll was done as a direct response to another thread. MrCynical was defending the pride of Firaxis and there were no post 1.52 patch figures to see what percentage still could not play the game.

It seems like only 3% are unable to play it now. This is an improvement, and some of these will be people whose machines do not fit system requirements, so the number is probably even lower.

I would still say that even 1% of people who have paid money for a game and can't play it is too high.

It worked just perfectly. Until yesterday. It tells me "Out of video memory". I've never had this problem before, and I'm playing the same save game.

I voted second but it is the fault of my computer that is about 4 times slower than the minimum requirements.

It works reasonably well, but has minor problems, based on experiences with system2

Looks like I was fairly close on my guess of 5% unplayable and 15% with playable but major problems. Would be nice to have a larger sample though, as I'm sure that I've seen more than 6 individuals complaining the game doesn't work at all.

I've seen some of these video glitches. I think I even witnessed some choppy scrolling. Movement lines will come out of nowhere. However, the game is very playable and, for the most part, video glitches are infrequent.

I imagine you saw most of them on the tech support forum. This poll is on the wrong forum to be seen by people who are having problems.

Still, one in five with major problems is quite a bit.

1. Runs fine on P4 2.6 Gigs NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 512Ram - at first.

2. memory drain forces returning to desk top occasionally.
a. produces loss of visual, lines, visual degeneration.

3. Slowness on end game (playing on standard world size).
a. luckily I never play all the way thru.

4. Responsible for Bush, Cheney, Goebbles/er Limbo, Rice, Potatoes, Wheat,
Powell, Delay, Renquist, me losing some games, & high price of beer.
