Does the Data Angels tech infiltration work?

The Data Angels supposedly can get any tech which is owned by three factions that they have infiltrated. However the syntax for this ability in their faction txt file does not follow the syntax specified in the alphax.txt file.

The only references to this I have found on the net are on a Japanese page, which, when translated, said the Angels txt file should be edited to say

SHARETECH, 3, TECHSHARE, 3

instead of just

TECHSHARE, 3

I am wondering if the U.S. version was fixed by a patch to terranx.exe, or whether that Angels ability simply does not work, since the Angels.txt file still says just TECHSHARE, 3 even with the latest patch.

Interesting question, since,as you point out, there's a discrepancy between alphax.txt (which states that SHARETECH must be included) and angels.txt (which doesn't include SHARETECH). The answer is that the Angels do get the free techs as advertised. I verified this by playing the Angels on a tiny map, quickly infiltrating three factions. Within a couple of turns, I received a tech that I wasn't researching.

If this doesn't seem to be working for you, there's an undocumented nuance to TECHSHARE: At least one of the infiltrated factions must discover the tech after you infiltrate them. For example, if all infiltrated factions already have discovered Applied Physics beforehand, the Angels will never receive that tech via TECHSHARE.

Thanks very much. I have not played the Angels, I don't really like the concept, and modded them to be the Cylons, but I was wondering if, while I was under the hood, I needed to try to fix TECHSHARE, but it appears I don't.

To answer the opening post, yes, the tech infiltration of the data angels works. I played them in my last game and I was getting free techs occasionally.
