Does WLTKD even work? No...really.

So, I had been running a small civ (only 6 cities). 2 outlying cities had a lot of corruption (60-70%). I thought a We love the ME day would help.

However, under both Republic and Democracy, I have noticed NEITHER an increase in production NOR a decrease in corruption in those cities while they're celebrating versus when they're not.

What am I missing?

Thanks,
ER

I also never noticed any real change in production/commerce during WLTKD. Maybe it's another bug like costal fortresses, precious bombing etc :(

It takes a turn to start working, so don't compare immediately.

Hmm, I checked now, it doesn't seem to do too much, but there is a bit of a difference....

I would have to disagree - WLTKD does work and does increase production and decreases corruption.
I have a medium size civ about 20-25 cities on the same continent and with the WLTKD it takes 3 turns to get a knight out without WLTKD it takes 5... My revenue per turn goes up by about 15-20 gold..
But again this is when ALL/MOST of the cities are in the celebration mood. :)

i agree,
most of my cities are continually celebrating.
waste and corruption are almost non-existant.

Someone experiment to see is the effect is cummulative, increasing with the number of consecutive turn the city has been celebrating.

I'm a democracy with maybe a 100 cities. The corruption is so bad in my far away places they cannot have a WLTKD much less benefit from one. Some of my medium cities benefit, and my science time goes down in WLTK but it takes so much resource to make happiness the trade off seems equal.

Also, about corruption: in my large empire, WLTK does not appear to help much except for my closest cities

The two of you who do get some benefit must be playing on a small world or have tiny empire. I have to agree with the people who say it does nothing, or at least nothing practical. I've experimented with it quite a bit. This is how WLTK seemed to work for me:

small empire: reduces corruption somewhat
medium: makes my science go faster (I did not see a production benefit, nor a significat corruption benefit)

Large empire: tedious, trying to keep my cities in WLTK by checking on them every turn. Incredibly annoying

If you have some kind of technique for keeping cities in WLTK without having to check every city every turn (UGH!) please let me know!

Let governors maintain mood, have all 8 luxuries and marketplace. Of course, you need temples, cols, and caths, too.

In reply to Jake...

Yep my empire is tiny comparing to 100 city of yours - I only get to play about 30 min a day max ;(
and I am only in my second game so I would like to finish at least once before getting into a full blown game

I lucked out with the lux recourses - I had most of them on the map and I jailed other civ so it can't get out and trades me all the others that I need plus all of techs so I can spend more money on happiness plus I got a GL and build the Forbidden Palace on the other side of the map. :) Cities are fully stocked with temples and all other happiness improvements and all of the GWs that increase happiness. etc.
