We are currently doing reasearch at a 90% science rate and are set to discover Electricity in 3 turns. Using this rate, we are still making 117gpt.

However, if we drop the science rate to 60%, we can still discover Electricity in 4 turns and will increase the gpt to 375.

Question is, is it worth waiting the extra turn for this tech to get the extra gpt?

One last thing, dropping the science rate to 80% will still get us Electricity in 3 turns, with 204gpt.

Please discuss.

Then set science to 80% and lets make more money in same time! But dont set it to 60%, we need the tech fast!

I think this is a very good idea, as it saves us about 800 gold while only delaying our science by one turn. Of course, my main concern is getting ToE and Hoover Dam built, but I do not think this would have more than a miniscule effect on those projects.

I might cause the prebuild to waste shields (but it Kyoto could build a cav or two). But, I think we really need those techs fast. The AI is going for other techs, and we have to use these as bargaining chips.

I do believe that science is king... but the 375gpt is a very enticing proposal... I say go for it.

True, but we would have to hope that the wars subside. Civs are at wars with 2-5 civs each, and their cash reserves (I think a civ puts aside 20gpt - seems that way - for one war) will be limited. The only 2 commercial civs left are France and Greece.

most of that gold does come from trades, which means there is a danger we can lose the gold at any time. They are up for renegitotiations very soon as well.

I say make the change. That amount of extra gpt is worth more than getting the tech one turn earlier IMO.
