Don't you hate it when...

Back to the original topic:
1. When you finish moving a unit(s) and at the end of the move, surprise! an enemy AI unit is waiting for you, which was here to for, unseen. And of course, they vanish after wiping out your unit.

2. When any AI unit can bribe one of yours.
3. When no matter how many defenders you have around a city, an AI spy still manages to get in.

4. The destroyer. Is there any more worthless unit? I find myself being fooled into thinking they can, well, destroy. I have lost them to engineers!!
hmph.gif

5. When an AI diplomat/spy makes nice, signs a treaty, then prompty steals technology from you. "Hey, I thought we were friends??"

6. When barbarians show up at the worst place, like around a nice settler/engineer who is one of your free ones, and exterminates them.

Well, that's about all for now, glad to get that off my chest. Back to the game!

Yeah, well, it will do until I get some MP3 files of all the Civ tunes and program them into my signature so that you can click a smilie and listen to inspiring chants while you read my meaningful and thoughtful posts

Heeeeeeeeyaahoahaohhhhaaaaaaaaaaaaay
Why don't they actually put good music in civilization. If they put like papa roach, like in Dave Mirra freestyle, more people would buy it!

When you wait until 1990 to ask CivFanatics how to build a spaceship (see also: Problems forum), then try to squeeze Apollo, ALL the ship building, launch and landing into 30 years with only 10 cities and without losing all your dough.

PS - I did it though ... 2010! First spaceship game completed!

Hey lenin, I told you how to deal with '...your machavaillian plans' on another thread! 'Make them Grovel' or something like that.

Another thing that gets me POed is that I sign a treaty with a tribe that is 'Neutral', or 'indifferent' in my game, but the next turn they are 'mad' or 'furious'. All of them! Six tribes at one point. WHY! It makes me want to slaughter them like the sacraficial dog they are...wait, that's what I do anyway

What i hate the most is when you get an Advanced Tribe in a hut and it misses a whale, coal or other good resourses by one square.

Machavaillian is evil, or something along those lines. You manipulate someone by talking, but you mutalate someone by swinging!

Machiavellian doesn't mean evil. Though someone who employs Machiavellian tactics will appear evil to his enemies--but then, don't we all anyway?

It's based on the political philosophies of Niccolo Machiavelli, more often denounced than understood, that basically argues that politics is neither moral nor immoral; it is *amoral* and therefore free of moral constraints. So in pursuing and maintaining power, a leader is fully justified in being crafty and deceitful if that's what a situation calls for. He said that others will be deceitful in their dealings with you, so you should be prepared to behave the same way to them. He also said that ideally, a ruler should aspire to be loved by his followers, but since that rarely happens, it is better to be feared by them.

He said a lot of other things, too, many of them applicable to Civ II. If they manage to make the AI in Civ III better, then even more of them will apply there. At any rate, I highly recommend reading Niccolo Machiavelli's "The Prince" ("Il Principe"). It's got a lot of great advice for rulers like us, ne? ^_^

i really hate it when you can't find a civs last ****ing city!
its happening at the moment, i have every english city except one! all my tanks are getting bored!
NE suggestions?

Yeah, sorry. Heh heh. I had to read "The Prince" back in high school. To me, it was a pretty interesting read, and as a Civ player, I naturally saw that it could come in handy. Pretty neat stuff, and I still recommend it.

arrrrH! this is one thing i hate! i'm playing on the europe map, and i had taken over all the island, and the rest of the poms were on the mainland, i was looking everywhere for them, when i finally found it, the city was on a previosly explored bit of land, where they must of settled after i saw it....
