Downloading the HQ .flv's from YT

I've just started dabbling in this very recently. I've found that if you add &fmt=6 at the end of the URL, it links directly to the high quality version of the video (if available). There's various websites, not to mention download & install programs that let you download/convert the flash videos. But, they seem to all be programmed to disregard anything past an "&" sign, since usually that's always just junk about related/channel/preferences/etc.

There's got to be a way... I'm sure it's easy. Help, please. :)
 
If you have firefox, Video Downloader extension should do the trick. Personally, i've never tried, but I think it looks at the actual source file being played back, so it should get you the hq version.
