Dud Disk ??

This is obviously a serious flaw. I have manged to get the game to work, but sometimes I have to wait up to 15 mins for it to fire up which is just terrible in this day and age. C64 games didn't use to take this long to load.

Sounds weird. First thought would be the drives are bad and can't read the brand they used for the game. But then it sounds more like a disc protection issue which is weird cause that wouldn't be a problem till you actually try to run the game.

Another thread in this forum here is discussing problems with the message cannot locate the CD-ROM. This is also concerning the UK DVD but the game will install then the copy protection will not let the game play.

Several people are using LG DVDs (myself included ).

I have installed, but get the message to insert the correct CD and the game won't start up. This happens whether I use the desktop icon or the play option from the disc (which it then can't find ).

Perhaps the LG thing is a common element, but we need more people to say to find out.

It surely looks like there is an issue with LG DVD:s. I have an LG DVD-ROM GDR8161B and i had the same problem. When i inserted the DVD it just kept klicking away for a few minutes and then it started to read the DVD properly.

I found a firmware upgrade for the 8161 and this seems to correct the problem. After i upgraded the firmware in the DVD the disk spins up immediately. The firmware upgrade is available at http://www.lge.com/support/software.jsp . Look under DVD-ROM (writer).

WARNING! If you are not sure that you can do this, don't. Get some help from someone who does. Any misstakes and you WILL damage your DVD driver!
