Dumb AI?

I played as Hitler on Prince difficulty.... Europe 1936
When I invaded the USSR they scared the crap outta me by sending 72 light tanks, 50 artillery, and 60 soldiers into east prussia.(all in one stack)
But they then let them sit there for several turns while i proceded to conquer all of their cities.
I eventually bombed them to death with 14 lvl6 bombers ;)
Why did they sit around? Also my allies did the same type of thing moving around without doing anything.
I've decided not to finish it since I took out the USSR, UK and part of Norway.
Any ideas on how to fix this so my next game is better? do i up the difficulty or is it an ai problem?
 
Which is why I am working on my own version. Each release will get better. My idea is to make it really hard for "Germany" to win. But this requires either

1) Germany is really weak, or
2) Other nations are really strong.

kiwitt...please do the 2º option....the other nation are really strong (remember that URSS was de 1º army in whole planet....with 29 millon men...also remember the eastern front for germany just collapsed when they facing to russian fronts...
 
Agreed. All my testing to date has shown the Russians getting defeated in the first 3 months of the war. NOTE: This was the objective of Hitler, when he launched "Barbarossa".
 
kiwitt..maybe you can add the effect of the "siberian division" in dec 1941, maybe you can add a triger when the german troops are at 1 square of moscu, suddenly in the nearby many new russian troops with a huge streng...so they can hold the city and kick the german forces back......

in stalingrad do the same thing...and then the mod will be more historic...


another thing...

remember that the british troops they make a really good fight agaist the germans in Africa...how do you can represent the efect of the Alamein and the Torch Operation?

and the D-Day landings in France?...the AI will never do those things....
 
If it is truely historical, you may as well watch a documentary or the powerpoint presentation I posted here.

The human player makes it different. Simply isolating the historical to significant events like declarations of war, keeps it simple. To do what you suggest will require quite a lot of python coding, e.g. D-Day is dependent of Cherbourg being occupied by the Germany. there will be a lot of conditions to check.

I may work on these in Version 2.0 (after I have learnt python). At the moment I am working on trying to complete 1.0 and am only just starting on 0.4 and it took a year to get there. And what I have noticed is that each increment towards 1.0 is harder and more complex. e.g. my work on 0.39.xx has been to stop the AI from disbanding it's units (a problem inherent in the original RtW and subsequent updates, including UE)

Thanks for your support ... You'll love version 0.4 when it is released. I am playtesting/modding it now after a 3 month break, so it will be released a little later than I thought, I have to change over 2,000 units already on the map.
 
Which is why I am keener to just leave it a DoW's, etc.
