I just started an Emperor large continents random epic map. I got Carthage. I moved the opening settler one move and started min research on Writing. On turn 51 I got Writing and made trades before letting the interturn continue. (Got Pottery, CB and Masonry. Meh. Edit: Oh, got Wheel, too.) While checking the capital I had an extra unit I didn't expect....Bominic or something. SGL! For Writing!

So for 50g I get Writing and Pyramids. Ok, I'll take it.

I was playing a Huge Archipelago the other day and I got an SGL for something or other, can't even remember the tech which caused it. What I do remember is the AI manipulation of the situation.

I had already built The Pyramids and The Oracle and The Mausoleum of molasses and was hastily making my way through The Great Library. From getting the SGL The Great Wall got built by an AI civ, The Temple of Artemis got built by another and The Great Lighthouse by a third.

I thought I'd use my SGL for the Hanging Gardens. No-one in my sphere of contact had Monarchy yet. I set my research for Monarchy and waited. The exact turn that I completed Monarchy an AI civ 'off-screen' completed the Hanging Gardens.

It all felt a bit forced and 'cheaty' really.

On a different topic, but along the same lines, I've been spending the last 20 or so start-ups attempting to find a way to build The Colossus, The Pyramids and The Oracle without the help of an SGL on Regent level. I honestly don't know if it's possible. Maybe river/coast start with three grassland cows and a phalanx of hills combined with an industrious civ?

Has anyone managed to build all three on Regent and above without an SGL? What's the trick?

You might want to check out the Creation and Customization Forum, as a guy has come up with a fix for the Science Age bug, so that a Science Great Leader can give an Infinite Science Great Age. Turns out the bug was an uncorrected piece of code. You also can get an Unlimited Golden Age.
