Dumb Question

Is it possible to get a leader from fighting against barbarians. I still havent managed to do so. since im trying to win the game with dpilomatic means for once and not fight a single war if need be

what! i think it is. yesterday (i have 1.07) i was defending my self from barbarians and my unit (the archer) killed one and i got a leader.

Are you sure wasabi? It is not supposed to happen so it might be a bug with 1.07. I have received a conscript Army before from a goody hut....also not supposed to happen.

Mike B. the Firaxis tech guy said the game is not supposed to do that, at least for all the patches. If anybody reading this has applied any patches, don't count on getting a leader by killing barbs.

But barbs can get promoted to regular if they beat your units. At least that's what Moonsinger said.

I thought barbs were always conscripts

I got 4 Leaders, 2 in 2 different games using the original 1.17f patch, the one released the first day, not the 2nd release version. I had read about Leaders being generated that way, boy was I surprised when it happened to me. Now, I have the 1.21f patch.

As far as I know, this is only possible with the v1.17f patch (the first one), the second v1.17f patch (called v1.17g at Apolyton) fixed that. In the first v1.17f patch you could get armies from huts and had probably triple the odds of getting settlers. In that patch I got 6 settlers from goody huts in one game. Since I applied later patches I have only got more than 1 settler from goody huts in ONE game. Although you can go into the editor and make it so that you can get armies from goody huts.
