What exactly does "Capitalization" do? Does that money go into your overall taxes, and if so what's the meaning of the turns it takes to 'build' it?

It seems to add to my overall cash, but not in any way I can figure out. I usually just use it when my cities have built everything they need, so I don't have to waste my time managing them.

Instead of producing sheilds to build things with, the city produces gold coins.I don't really know what the turns to complete means.

You are correct this is a dumb question!

It turns production into trade. I don't think the turns does anything

Well, it must be close to the Armageddon. Lord, you know that I won’t fly by that lesson you taught me, to pull out my Wesson you brought me, and i’m not stressin’ it softly. Get ‘em up off me, ‘cause all we wanted harmony, been bombin’ ‘em. Yell up outta my ghetto, “I won’t settle,” get on my level.</FONT c>

Haha. That 'turns' thing made me nuts, because I kept trying to 'Buy' capitalization!

NOT trade, but taxes; if it turned production into trade, then both science and luxuries would then be increased in addition to taxes. But this is not the case.

As for "turns" -- this has no effect whatsoever; apparently it's a residual category in the production routine.

The "turns" and the numbers in the city status (e.g., 198/600) are not entirely meaningless. When you switch to capitalization, any shields you currently have in production are supposedly "stored" and can be restored when you switch back to "normal" production.

Let's say you are piling up shields for space ship parts or a wonder, but mis-time a cruicial advance needed to switch production to what you really want. Rather than completing a wonder that was already built (thus losing the 600 sheilds), You can switch to capitalization and when you switch back your shields should still be there. No more have accumulated (they were turned into gold) but you also didn't lose the sheild production.
