Challenge for all of you this weekend.

With the latest mod, BtS, Monarch, not-unlocked

Get the Dutch to win the 1st UHV (most map by 1600) plus:
1) Notre Dam in Amsterdam
2) Astronomy
3) Liberalism
4) Aztec vassal

All by 1605AD

I could easily do it before, but not now. Give it a try!

Just got it on the second attempt on Monarch difficulty using BTS v1.181, 600AD not-unlocked (by the way, why not use the unlocked start?)

Get the Dutch to win the 1st UHV (most map by 1600) plus:
1) Notre Dam in Amsterdam

Built in 1220AD.

2) Astronomy
3) Liberalism

I got to Liberalism in 1460 and chose Astronomy as my free tech. I had just researched Democracy and Replaceable Parts as I entered the 1600s.

4) Aztec vassal
And the Incas too. Also interested in why you wanted this to be a condition?

All by 1605AD

I had your conditions and all three conditions of the UHV in 1600. Sadly no Golden Age triggered as I picked up the 7 spices condition on the same turn as the map condition (both in 1600). I had achieved the Australian condition in the early 1500s.

I could easily do it before, but not now. Give it a try!

Give it another try Ryry, it wasn't that difficult really. I was beaten to Notre Dame in my first attempt by China, but not in my second attempt. I also built the Leaning Tower and University of Sankore before Amsterdam switched to settler production mode.

My first colony (using initial settler) was on the gold resource in South Africa.

Interestingly, you only need to get the spice resources within the 'fat cross' of your cities not within your cultural boundaries. My last city to be founded (in 1600) was in New Guinea and had not yet expanded its cultural borders to encompass both of the spice resources yet I still achieved the UHV.

I've been attempting a Dutch full colonial empire recently, and I could nearly have done this - the Aztecs offered to be my vassal but I declined, although I accepted the Incan offer.

Only point was Notre Dame - it was actually built by the Byzantines in, get this, 910 AD!
I never play the 600 AD start normally, but is this common?

Yeah, locked or unlocked doesnt matter. Just I was playing the locked version.

Aztec was for the spices.

Anyway, I am impressed. I will try it again.

Hey, could this be the reason why people have been reporting problems with the oil condition for the American UHV lately? With oil that's inside their cultural boundaries but not inside their fat crosses or improved?

You know you really might be onto it there mushyman.

I didn't have a problem with the American oil UHV condition, but I had already doen the Dutch UHV and so I was more prepared for how the American condition would work.

I'm convinced this is the case now. I have just completed the American UHV today - here's a breakdown of my oils:

6 were within my cultural boundaries, and either improved, or within one of my city's fat crosses.
3 were not in anyone's cultural boundaries, but within the fat cross of one of my cities.
1 was within my cultural boundaries but was not worked or within a city's cross.
And 2 were in my vassal territory (Mali), not worked but within the fat cross of one of Mansa's cities.

I loaded up a save of my winning turn, and removed Mali as a vassal through the Worldbuilder, and I didn't win when I ended the turn! So I must have had 9 oils, and the one that was not worked in my boundaries (the offshore oil near Mexico - I didn't have Plastics) must not have counted.
