What about a dwarven flamethrower? Random thought it could produce a fireball type unit that would do collateral dmg, slightly more dmg than a fireball, would not be able to bombard cities. When the unit attacks directly it would not do collateral dmg but would do higher attack. I also thought about the idea that is could destroy ancient forests but could not spread (unique niche imho). I have no idea if this would fly but it struck me as interesting for the khazad.
 
the idea of burning ancient forest sounds great :)
dwarven hate elven work, so this fits well. but i think, it is too much fire
in the mod, like pyrozombies, fireball golems, dragons roar, and so on.
it would be great, if there exist some cold spells or units with colddamage.
 
well switch it to cold or lightning then maybe. It could still destroy ancient forests that way.
 
not specifically as far as I know, but I just thought it would be interesting to have at least one way to remove ancient forests outside your land. And this device seemed to fit with the Khazad. I didn't consider it for any reason other than RoK wanting to clear the land to make way for mines.
 
It's just always accepted that no matter the specifics, in any fantasy setting the long haired pointy eared poofs and the short irish miners who seem a bit to enthusiastic when they say "boy'o", will never get along.

It would be a shame if that old stereotype got carried over. Just once, I'd like to see them get along. They're both neutral, they aren't competing for land or resources, they both have qualities that complement each other well, and between the archmages and cannons, they could make such beautiful explosions together.

And that's what Erubus needs. Explosions, in evil's direction. Lots of them.
 
Nah it wasn't so much the elf vs dwarf though it looks like that. The ancient tree destruction was simply an idea to add to the unit concept. I just wish there was a way to destroy the ancient forests when they are not in your territory (even if it is only one at a time).

edit - and the more I think about it I like making it a lightning unit for varieties sake.
 
What about the battering ram... doesn´t the building of it destroy the forest?
 
The Python prereq only allows in in Forests, not Ancient Forests. (I've never actually used the spell.)

In my version (which is not khazad specific, and doesn't have the tech requirement) I'm going to allow it in ancient forests (and Jungles?) and going to make those rams stronger, but also have a good chance that a Treant would spawn to stop you.
