Mods- Feel free to move it to the Strategy/Tips or Mod Creation whatever forum. I wasn't really sure where this topic belonged.

I've been playing the Double Your Pleasure mod for vanilla civ (but I don't think there's too many big differences from the PtW version, judging by the civilopedia) and I think it's completely different from the regular game. Which of course is a big plus! :goodjob:

I really like how all traits are useful in this mod. Well, IMO, exp sucks horribly, but the others are good. :mischief:

Anyway, I was just curious on other player's strategies. I tend to rush for warfare techs in the AA in case the AI gets crazy. I also go for the techs that make resoruces appear. From there though I don't really have a plan. I got kinda dominated a couple times on Regent ( :( ) because of this sloppy playing.

Can someone give me tips? Which techs do you think are not worth researching? What's your favorite civ too (old or new)? I like Siam and Greece.

I have Rise and Rule, the version for conquests. I rather enjoy the game and sometimes, it seems better Conquests. I dont know how of this game you have played. YOu mentioned that you thought it was different from vanilla- it definitely is. While I haven't played that much (3 or so games, one which I abandon due to slow game speeds. The other one I lost.) Here are some of the major difference:

1. Slower population growth- With the settler requirement of 3, not 2 people to expand. This makes good starting position even more important. However, paradoxically, the slower growth allows the human to grow even faster if they give it a concernted effort. AI won't expand as fast as I did. This is even more the case on islands.

2. Exploration is slower-The game has several restrictions placed on exploration from limits on what units can cross sea and ocean tiles. There are also greater limits on what unit can explore on land.

3. Combat is more diversified-There are more units and more limits on units. For example, Modern Armors can not work in areas where they can currently. Because of these limitations, more units are required so that the player can complete the missions better. At the modern age, there are units that are weak and fast and other units which are slow and heavy hitting.

4. Increasing bonuses or actually producing-The cost of things is much higher in RaR however there are many city improvements that increase shield production of cities. In short, it is difficult to decide whether to actually produce or increase the speed of production.

That's it as far as strategies I can think of right now.
